Lectric's own error codes
These codes come from Lectric's official sources, listed at the bottom of the page. Lectric's manuals say bicycles are only for use by persons 16 years of age and above. If your screen shows a code that isn't on this list, your bike may use a different display: find your display .
Quick answer
E003 on the Lectric eBikes (XP 3.0, XP4, XP Trike, XPeak, ONE) means “PAS Sensor Fault.” Most likely cause: the pedal-assist sensor's magnet ring has slipped or cracked, or its cable is damaged. Try this first: turn it off and on again.
Code meanings vary by brand. The same number can mean different things on different displays and controllers. Check your bike's manual to confirm.
About the Lectric eBikes (XP 3.0, XP4, XP Trike, XPeak, ONE)
The same table (E003, E006 to E011) is printed in the XP 3.0 (mechanical and hydraulic), XP4, XP Trike1, XP Trike2, XPeak 1.0, XPeak 2.0 and ONE manuals. source The HOT code (High Temperature Fault) is in the XP 3.0, XP4, XP Trike1, XP Trike2 and XPeak 2.0 manuals. It is not in the XPeak 1.0 or ONE manuals. source Other Lectric models (XP Lite, XPedition, XPress, XPremium, older XP 1.0/2.0) were not checked for this list. Check your own manual. source
In plain English
The pedal-assist (PAS) sensor watches your cranks turn and tells the controller to help. If its magnet ring has slipped or cracked, the gap is too big, or its cable is damaged, the controller can't tell you're pedaling.
Step-by-step checklist
Reset
Work from the top. Steps go from free and easy to shop jobs. Switch the bike off before touching any connector. Tick each step as you go. Your progress is saved on this device.

1 Turn it off and on again Free
Switch the display off, wait 30 seconds, then switch it back on. If the code clears, note what you were doing when it appeared, in case it comes back.
2 Pedal forward for a full turn Free
PAS sensors only detect forward pedaling. Ride off and pedal a full turn or two before expecting help.
3 Check the pedal-assist sensor Easy
On most hub-motor kits, a ring of magnets on the crank spins past a small sensor. Make sure the ring isn't cracked, wobbly or rubbing, the gap to the sensor is small and even, and the cable isn't damaged. Mid-drive motors have this sensor built in, so skip this step on those.
4 Unplug and check the main connectors Easy
Switch off and remove the battery. Find the round waterproof plugs along the cables (usually near the handlebar, down the frame and near the motor). Pull each one apart, look for bent pins, water, green corrosion or melted plastic. Melted or burnt plastic means stop and see a shop. Clean green corrosion with electrical contact cleaner and let it dry fully, then push the plug back together with the arrows lined up.

5 Dry the bike out if it got wet Moderate
If the problem started after rain or washing, remove the battery and leave the bike somewhere warm and dry for 24 to 48 hours, then test again. Don't use a heat gun or put the bike next to a heater.
6 Have the sensor replaced Shop job
If the sensor is damaged or still faulty after these checks, a shop can test and replace it.
⚠ When to stop and get a shop
Stop riding and see a shop if you smell burning, see melted plastic or burn marks, or anything gets hot to the touch. Never open the battery or controller, and don't cut or splice the thick motor wires.
Anything inside the battery, the controller, or the thick high-power motor wires is a job for a qualified e-bike shop.
