Error 04 on Bafang DPC-10 Display
What it means + how to fix it From the manual
Quick answer
Error 04 on the Bafang DPC-10 means “The throttle has fault.” Most likely cause: a throttle that's pressed or sticking at switch-on, or a loose throttle plug. Try this first: switch on with your hands off the throttle.
Only on bikes with a throttle. Careful: on the Bafang DPC-18 (UART), 04 and 05 are swapped.
The controller isn't getting a sensible signal from the throttle. The usual causes are a throttle that's pressed or sticking when you switch on, a loose or wet plug, or a damaged cable. Throttles are cheap, so this is often an easy fix.

A cheap part that wears out. Match the connector and voltage.
Match your bike's model first. Ask a shop if unsure.
Electrical contact cleaner spray

When it's time for a shop: if you've worked through every step and the problem is still there, take the bike to an e-bike shop. Bring your notes on when it happens, plus the code.
